University of Mysore Model United Nations Conference 2020

The School of Law at the University of Mysore is delighted to announce the successful organization of its first edition of the International Model United Nations (MUN) Conference. The conference, held on 2nd March 2020, focused on the agenda of "Impact of cybercrimes on International Security and Human Rights" under the Disarmament & International Security Committee of the United Nations General Assembly. Participants had the opportunity to choose their countries from a country matrix, with each participant representing only one country. Countries were allotted based on preference on a first-come-first-serve basis. The theme of the conference highlighted the growing importance of cybersecurity in the context of international relations and human rights. The MUN provided participants with a unique learning experience, allowing them to simulate the diplomatic proceedings of the United Nations. Participants, acting as diplomats, engaged in debates and discussions, gaining valuable insights into diplomacy, international relations, and the United Nations. The conference not only facilitated learning but also promoted important skills such as researching, public speaking, debating, critical thinking, teamwork, and leadership. Participants had the opportunity to deepen their understanding of global issues and the role of diplomacy in addressing them.
